Because most of my stories involve supernatural creatures, magic, and gods, I’m always impressed by authors who can write a really sexy story with ordinary humans set in the real world.

And that’s exactly what Lily Harlem pulled off with Fireworks, her erotic short story in the Sinful Pleasures anthology.

Here to talk about Fireworks, Sinful Pleasures, and the sexy seaside is Lily Harlem herself!

The Sexy Seaside

by Lily Harlem

What is it about a trip to the beach that’s so sexy? It really is. I live in the UK and a trip to the seaside is always a treat. We have a choice of coastline delights from bucket and spade, kiss-me-quick beaches to long wild cliff walks that give dazzling views across the ocean. I adore the fresh air, people watching, and on a hot day the feeling of freedom wearing a bikini and swimming in the sea allows.

In FIREWORKS, my story in SINFUL PLEASURES, my hero and heroine are at the beach. The trouble is he’s busy attending a work conference leaving Alice alone to lounge on the sand, enjoy delicious ice-cream and get lost in a book. But it also gives her the chance to mull over how boring their sex life is.

With the sun heating her skin she comes up with a plan to brighten their bedroom fun, to dazzling proportions. If she’d been at work, or in the supermarket, or running errands, this plan would never have been formed. It’s the sensation of the breeze on hot, bronzing flesh, the scent of sweet candyfloss, the need for every sense to soak up the salty air and relish summer’s unique ability to make us feel a little wild and a lot alive that allows her imagination to run rampant.

And rampant it is. Julian returns from a day of lectures and serious conversations with colleagues to a girlfriend who has no plans on going out for dinner that night, and lots of plans to feast on pleasure. I hope you enjoy FIREWORKS and the story of how Julian and Alice are seduced by the seaside. I loved writing it and being inspired by the UK’s uniquely quaint coastline.

It took effort to push a negative thought from her mind about him heading out to dinner with his colleague and leaving her there. She didn’t want to entertain the possibility. It would knock her confidence, and their relationship, to Timbuktu.

The wine was mellow and a little warm, but she sipped it, letting the melon and peach undertones spread on her tongue.

Just when she feared tears might spring to her eyes, the hotel room door opened again.

Thank goodness.

Turning, she rubbed her hand over her waist, showing him what he could have now he’d got rid of Jose, and set the glass aside.

Julian leaned his back against the door and studied her.

“Lock it,” she said, nodding at his right hand resting by the handle. “We won’t want to be disturbed.”

He did as instructed.

She smiled and moved towards him, enjoying the way the air drifted over her flesh and her hips rolled. When she reached him she took hold of his tie and began to loosen it.

“Alice, if you’d wanted to go to a different restaurant, just the two of us, that would have been fine.”

“No.” She pulled the tie free and slipped it from his neck. With a flourish she tossed it to the floor. “It wasn’t the restaurant that was the problem, or even Jose.”

“So what is it?” He frowned.

“It’s our lack of quality time together.” She undid the top button on his white shirt, then the next one.

“But you’re here, with me, in Blackpool.”

“I might be physically with you.” She swept her lips over his, in a teasing, light kiss. “But I don’t have your attention.” She released two more buttons then pulled the shirt from his trousers so it hung loosely.

“You do now.” He dropped his gaze to her chest.
